Out-n-About (“we”, “our”, or “us”) is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, store, and safeguard your personal information when you use our mobile application (“App”). By using Out-n-About, you consent to the practices described in this policy.

a. Account Information

When you sign in, we receive basic profile information, including your name and email address, via Google Sign-In, Sign in with Apple. You also need to add a phone number to your profile. This is used solely to authenticate you and personalise your experience.

b. User-Generated Content

To provide the App’s core features, we store the following data that you create:

Trip Groups: Group names, members, and related details for trips you create or join.

• Itinerary: Itinerary item titles, descriptions, dates, and locations (place names you enter, not your device’s GPS position).
• Checklists: Checklist item titles and completion status.
• Expenses & Settlements: Expense amounts, categories, dates, notes, and settle-up records between group members.
• Budget Goals & Insights: Budget goals you set and the monthly spending insights generated from your expense data.

c. Contacts Information

If you choose to invite people to a trip group from your device’s contacts, the App requests read-only access to your contacts. Phone numbers from your contacts are sent to our servers solely to check which of your contacts are already registered App users, so we can help you invite them to a group. We do not store your full contacts list on our servers, and contact data is never shared with third parties or used for any purpose other than facilitating invitations.

d. Push Notification Token

We collect a device token (via Firebase Cloud Messaging) to deliver notifications about group activity, such as new expenses, invitations, and itinerary updates. You can disable notifications at any time from your device settings.

d. Device & Usage Information

We may automatically collect basic device information such as operating system version and app version for security, debugging, and performance purposes.

We use your information for the following purposes:

• Authentication: To verify your identity securely.
• App Functionality: To save and sync your trip groups, itineraries, checklists, expenses, and budgets across sessions.
• Invitations: To match your contacts against registered users so you can invite them to a trip group.
• Notifications: To alert you about relevant group activity.
• Improvement: To analyse App usage, fix bugs, and improve features.
• Compliance: To meet applicable legal obligations and protect our rights.

• Storage:
  Your data is stored securely on our servers and locally on your device using encrypted storage mechanisms. All data is transmitted over encrypted channels (HTTPS).
• Security Measures:
  We implement industry-standard security practices to protect your information from unauthorised access, disclosure, alteration, or destruction.
• Access Controls:
  Only authorised personnel may access personal data, and only for legitimate operational purposes.
• Data Retention:
  We retain your data for as long as your account is active. Upon account deletion, your data will be permanently deleted or anonymised within 30 days.

We do not sell, rent, or share your personal data with any third parties. Your data may only be accessed in the following limited circumstances:

• Legal Requirements:
  When required by law or to comply with legal processes (e.g., subpoenas, court orders).

• Right to Access:
  Request a copy of the data we hold about you.
• Right to Correction:
  Request correction of inaccurate or incomplete data.
• Right to Deletion:
  Request permanent deletion of your account and associated data by contacting us at the address below.
• Right to Withdraw Consent:
  You may revoke contacts or notification permissions at any time via your device settings, though this may limit certain App features.

Out-n-About is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us with personal information, please contact us immediately and we will delete it.

We may update this Privacy Policy periodically. Significant changes will be communicated through the App and/or by updating the effective date above. We encourage you to review this policy from time to time.
